My God.
Neverwinter Nights.
I played until 0200 this morning.
I have problems.
The lure of a fully-compliant 3rd Edition D&D game didn't appeal to me in the slightest, since I have never before actually played Dungeons and Dragons. However, I snagged the game on a whim and loaded it up, and I was immediately struck with Diablo Syndrome.
Diablo Syndrome is what happened to me the first few times I played the original Diablo, in 1997. The first time I fired it up, I was unimpressed and played for five minutes. The second time, I played for about twenty minutes and remained unimpressed. The third time, I started playing, then looked up and realized that the sun was coming up because I'd played all through the night.
Same thing with Neverwinter Nights. Last night, the gamelust struck me, and now I am wholeheartedly stuck, and my half-elf paladin, Eilonwy of Llyr, charges forth selflessly to save the noble city of Neverwinter from the grasp of the Wailing Death.
So, no, I haven't been by the message boards for a pair of days, and I apologize--work has become completely nuts and I haven't had a free thirty minutes so far this week to post. I'm pushing it by just doing this update--there's so much I have to do this morning. And Eilonwy awaits me when I return home, impatiently tapping her elfin foot. She wanted to cleanse the Blacklake district last night, but the burning and stinging in my drooping eyes could not be denied.
